Resorts World Catskills is a hotel and casino located in Monticello, New York.^[2][3] It opened on February 8, 2018,^[4] and is owned and operated by Empire Resorts.^[5] It was built on the former site of the Concord Hotel.^[6] The property features 65,000 square feet (6,000 m²) of gaming space with 112 table games and over 2,150 slot machines,^[7] and an 18-story hotel tower with 332 suites.^[8]

The property was originally to be named Montreign Resort Casino but announced in April 2017 that it would instead license the Resorts World name from Genting Group, the majority owner of Empire Resorts.^[9][10]

About Empire. Empire Resorts Inc.’s indirect wholly-owned subsidiary, Montreign Operating Company, LLC, doing business as Resorts World Catskills, owns and operates Resorts World Catskills, a casino resort which is located in Sullivan County, New York approximately 90 miles from New York City.

In mid-2018, construction was begun on the Entertainment Village, a building next to the casino containing retail space, restaurants, and 105 hotel rooms.^[11] The project opened in December 2018 as The Alder at Resorts World Catskills.^[11][12]

In August 2019, an SEC filing indicated that Empire Resorts, the casino's parent company, was considering bankruptcy. During the period between the casino's February 2018 opening and June 2019, the company reported $211.5 million in losses. The Times Herald-Record asserted that the losses occurred 'due to gross gaming revenues that lagged 45 percent below company projections in year-one alone, in a Northeast market over-saturated with gambling options'.^[13]

Resorts World Catskills is a $920 million, 1.6-million-square-foot, five-star casino, hotel and entertainment complex.

Originally named Montreign Casino, the now Resorts World Catskills was awarded its casino license from the New York Gaming Facility Location Board on December 17, 2014.

The owners are Empire Resorts, which owns Monticello Raceway, and EPR, a real estate investment trust company. They have partnered to build this $920 million resort at the old Concord Resort site in Kiamesha Lake, New York.

Resorts World Catskills opened Feb 8th

On Thursday February 8 the new Resorts World Catskills will open. The $1 billion casino is the first full scale gaming venue to open in the area.

The original opening date was scheduled for March 01.

The project has been planned and worked on for decades. It is hopeful that the casino will help boost tourism back to the mountain area of New York.

In 2014 bidding began for the four upstate New York casino licenses offered by the state Gaming Commission.

There will be 2,150 slot machines and 150 table games in operation.

Future plans include a resort with 332 guest rooms. Each room will be a luxury suite. There will also be an entertainment district and an 18 hole golf course.

In 2019 an indoor water park will open at the casino.

The casino will be open 24 hours daily. 1,400 new jobs have been created by the project.
